As an avid enthusiast of Zen Buddhism, I believe in the indwelling of divinity in all natural things, and thus all things in nature inspire me. The butterfly series is a depiction of textures of transformation from the crawling state of being, all the way to a colorful, light, flying state. Humans, like caterpillars, generally feel limited and in “prison” within boundaries and borders. They yearn for transformation and “freedom”. In this series the viewer hears the whispers of the transformed ones – the butterflies- calling for a revolution of the imagination to fly freely, blissfully unconscious of the human construct of a border.
